Interim SAP Consultant

We are looking for a consultant to join our growing business on an interim basis to drive the implementation of SAP S/4HANA.

The successful candidate will need to be very hands-on and will be able to demonstrate multiple SAP implementations, including S/4HANA, migrating fast growing start-ups from legacy accounting systems.

The business has a small Finance team and the Interim Consultant will need to take the lead on the implementation cycle liaising with the preferred vendor and the business. This will include helping the Finance team focus and prioritise their time on migration/implementation tasks and managing the preferred vendor during a Sprint period.

You will need to be flexible and pragmatic to deliver the agreed objectives within expected performance targets for time, cost, quality, scope, benefits and risks. It is envisaged that the role will last between 6-9 months. Candidates must be immediately available to join this project.


  • Creating and maintaining project plans
  • Working with multiple stakeholders and managing expectations
  • Managing system improvements including release management
  • Liaising with 3rd party IT providers
  • Developing business case proposals, delivery full lifecycle management, user testing & training, and post go-live support and optimisation
  • Being “hands on” in helping the business stakeholders to create and document the chart of accounts; specifying and documenting the Core Modules to be implemented
  • Assigning / delegating work assignments to project team members
  • Motivating project staff and focusing on quality, time and scope
  • Monitoring project deliverables and progress through continuous communication with project stakeholders
  • Monitoring progress, anticipate disruptions, and provide progress reports
  • Ensuring projects are completed according to agreed budget and plan


  • Qualified Accountant with 3-5 years finance operations experience
  • SAP S/4HANA implementation experience is essential
  • SAP S/4HANA End User experience would be desirable
  • Experience of and/or qualifications in Project Management methodologies such as Prince 2, PMP, MSP and Agile.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office toolset including Excel to an Advanced level.
  • A proven track record in ERP Project Management, with experience of implementing ERP in a fast-growing business migrating from Xero (or similar system)
  • Qualified Accountant with 3-5 years finance operations experience
  • Excellent working knowledge of leading cloud-based Finance solutions such as SAP, Oracle or NetSuite
  • Expertise of integrating Finance packages with other strategic solutions
  • Creative thinker, with the ability to proactively identify areas for potential improvement (process and functionality)
  • Lead initiatives and solution enhancements
  • Managing similar complex projects across a fast-growing and dynamic business
  • Multi-site/multi-country implementation experience
  • Translate business/operational requirements into effective and efficient systems solutions and to manage conflicting priorities/complex workload
  • Must have excellent communication skills at all levels including C-Suite
  • Will need to recruit, manage and mentor other external contractors as required
  • Budget/ resource/ timeframe management and developing all relevant project documentation
  • Ensuring the successful delivery of systems to customers tailored project requirements.
